Library Technology Policies

Library Kiosk Usage

  • Library kiosks are available on a first-come, first-served basis for catalog searches.  For assistance navigating the library catalog, please visit the circulation desk. 
  • Library kiosk users are expected to respect copyright and intellectual property rights. To check if a certain usage complies with applicable laws, see the Fair Usage Checklist and the official copyright website (http://www.copyright.gov/title17/). 
  • Patrons are NOT permitted to load any software, plug-ins, scripts, or other forms of executable software on library kiosks. 
  • Patrons are NOT permitted to unplug, modify, or tamper with Library kiosks and equipment.
  • The Library is not responsible for patrons’ files. Files on local machines are periodically deleted, and we cannot guarantee computer reliability. In case of a crash or unresponsive application, we are not liable for lost data. Save your work frequently to your own media or backup service (e.g., Google Drive), as the Library cannot recover lost work.
  • All patrons must follow the Seminary’s Computing Policies (https://inside.sbts.edu/campus-technology/) and Library policies. Violations may lead to loss of computer privileges.

Personal Devices & Headphones Use

Personal Devices:

  • Personal devices should be silenced at all times while patrons are visiting the library’s Reading Room. 
  • Personal calls may be taken in the Main floor lobby area, but should not be accepted via speaker phone. 

Headphones:

  • Patrons are required to use headphones if sound is needed(i.e. watching lectures, music, audiobooks, etc.). 

Failure to comply with these policies may result in the patron being asked to step out of the library building for the duration of the call and/or use of open sound.
